Hello. My name is Dean Lucas and head editor for the Famous Pictures Project. I've always been fascinated by famous pictures and the stories behind them. I started out this project as a book concept and I tried to submit the idea to a number of publishers but no luck. Plan B was this webpage. Managing a number of contributors we've tried to document dozens of iconic images. We've also set up a separate wiki site in hopes that we can have everyday users propose, and explain images that they think are iconic.
A big set back with this approach is Spam attacks against the open Wiki platform. We're trying to adapt technology around this but for the moment the Famous People Wiki is in read only mode.
